The Eastport Peninsula welcomes you to our annual Agricultural Exhibition Weekend!
About the Agricultural Exhibition
Starting 89 years ago, this event brought the community together to highlight the bounty of farmers on the Peninsula.
The Exhibition began in 1937 and ran for thirteen consecutive years. It was revived in 2001 and has continued to grow and evolve. Now in its 38th year, the Exhibition has become one of the major weekend events on the Eastport Peninsula, attracting visitors from surrounding communities as well as from other parts of the province. It celebrates our rich past as an innovative farming area and encourages interest in developing locally produced food for a healthier future.
The event expanded to include the life and work activities connected to community agriculture: preserves, baking, crafts, community meals, walks through common lanes between farms, farm machines, garden parties, music, dances, and celebration.
The Exhibition Weekend hosts 20 events and activities over two days, all run by local volunteers. This is the combined effort of 30 coordinators and co-captains, community members, and students from six municipalities and service areas: Eastport, Happy Adventure, Sandy Cove, Salvage, Burnside/St. Chad’s, and Sandringham.

Join the Organizing Committee
We hold regular meetings on Zoom and usually meet in person a few times a year at one of the local town halls or the school. Meetings are 1.5 hours and happen every two months, with July and August off, and with smaller organizing area meetings in the lead-up to the Exhibition weekend.
There are 20 events and activities during the Exhibition that are independently organized by members of the community, with the Organizing Committee meetings more for general coordination. The Committee is co-chaired by Jill Penney-Turner (Sandringham) and Hilary Martin (Sandy Cove).
